Equestrian

t-shirt: Ann Taylor Loft (old - $25ish?) ~ cardigan: August Silk via Nordstrom Rack ($20) ~ jeans & scarf: Target ($14 & forget) ~ boots: Steve Madden via DSW ($120)

Date: October 6, 2011
Ensemble message: This is an outfit from one of my many team meetings in the past several weeks.  These meetings are generally casual, but I will wear a skirt or dressier slacks if I'm presenting.  Clearly I wasn't presenting this day, so I opted for jeans for comfort and layers for warmth (aren't hotel conference rooms always so cold?!)  Between the boots and scarf, I felt very equestrian!

No Regrets

P1010900

P1010902
dress & shirt: Target ($28 & $14) ~ scarf: Gap Outlet ($?? I forget, sorry!) ~ boots: Steve Madden via DSW ($120) ~ bangle: NY&Co ($10ish) ~ cuff: gift

Date: October 5, 2011
Ensemble message: So yeah, absolutely no regrets buying this dress.  I. LOVE. IT.  I wear it to work (and it's hard to not wear it every week) and I wear it on the weekend.  It's awesome alone with a few accessories, or layered with undershirts, overshirts, scarves, etc.  I really have no other words to describe my love :)

Moving Day

P1010801

P1010807

P1010799
sweater: Banana Republic ($13) ~ leggings: Target ($20... but thick, really worth the money!) ~ scarf: H&M (old... $8ish?) ~ boots: Bandolino via Macy's ($85) ~ bracelet: gift
Date: February 21, 2011
Ensemble message: Today definitely did not start off on a good note.  First, it's Presidents' Day, but The Day Job does acknowledge this as a company holiday (boooo).  Second, it snowed AGAIN!  But the news actually didn't hype up the bad roads when they should have... so instead of working from home, I drove in and my 4 wheel drive car was all over the road.  Third, this was my first day at my new desk, so I knew I would be unpacking boxes.

P1010800

Well, things didn't go quite as planned, and my boxes never showed up!  Not a good start to the week, but then again, things can only go up from here right?? :)

Watercolor Print

sweater: Gap (gift) ~ dress: Anthropologie ($30) ~ boots: Bandolino via Macy's ($85ish)
Date: February 1, 2011
Ensemble message: Despite experiencing ridiculous amounts of frozen precipitation this winter, I wanted to make an extra effort to wear skirts and dresses to work this this week.  I was comfy on Monday but wanted to step it up a bit without getting too dressy.  Wearing a dress with boots once again was the compromise between style and weather!

P1010792

P1010788

I found this dress on the Anthropologie sale rack in December and had to have it.  The colors are all my favorites... I'm more of an autumn gal I suppose.  And the print is perfectly whimsical without looking too young. How about you?  Have you changed your style with all the snow and ice this week??

Black & Blue & Grey

sweater: men's section at Daffy's ($16) ~ skirt: Necessary Objects via Century 21 ($25) ~ boots: Chinese Laundry via Macy's ($65) ~ necklaces: gifts

Date: January 31, 2011
Ensemble message: It's Monday and I'm super busy at work... so I went with an outfit that I would be comfortable in but also look nice for when I met with others.  If you haven't noticed, comfort has been key lately because a) Q1 is the busiest time for HR at The Day Job, and b) It snows on average once a week around here!

Knowing that another storm was heading our way, I took advantage of the sun this morning to get some outdoor shots.  As cold as it is, they just look so much nicer than my living room.  Plus, my living room is covering in ski equipment right now in anticipation of an upcoming trip!

What did you wear to work today?

Snowy Friday

shirt: Gap ($20ish) ~ jeans: Target ($14) ~ cardigan: Gap (gift) ~ scarf: Ralph Lauren (gift) ~ belt: from another pair of pants ~ boots: Sorel (gift)

Date: January 21, 2011
Ensemble message: Well, with only 4 or 5 inches of snow on the ground and none falling from the sky at 7am, I had to go into work!  To keep warm while cleaning off the car, my Sorels were a must.  I did bring other shoes in for the office, however, to look more professional and because the boots are about 1/2 a size too big ;)  The rest is just comfy and cozy, but nice enough to meet up with friends for happy hour after work.

Hope you enjoy the non-outfit pics... it was just to pretty this morning NOT to post them!  Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend everyone! :)

Simple & Sweet

sweater: INC via Macy's (gift) ~ shirt: H&M ($15) ~ pants: Target ($22) ~ boots: Chinese Laundry via Macy's ($65) ~ earrings: Arizona boutique ($7)

Date: January 19, 2010
Ensemble message: Since returning to NJ, I've only wanted to dress cozy and warm.  Between the snow/ice and post vacation blues, I've had zero desire to wear a skirt or dress.  I know, very unusual for me!  Since my energy is still low/depressed, it's easier to just go with it.  (Aren't you supposed to be re-energized following a vacation?!  Maybe I need a couple more days...)

I also have plans after work tonight - yes, on a school night!  I am meeting a friend to review her resume and talk careers, so pants felt right for a working session at Starbucks.  Then, since I'm a super rebel, I am meeting The Husband and In-Laws for dinner.  Something tells me my energy will not be much higher tomorrow morning... but all totally worth it :)

Ruffles for Warmth

dress: American Rag via Macy's ($18) ~ sweater: Derby (gift) ~ boots: Bandolino via Macy's ($85) ~ earrings: gift

Date: January 3, 2010
Ensemble message: Welcome 2011!  It's the start of another year, which  means 12 months of possibilities and new beginnings.  And for those of us who have cut back on work for the past couple weeks (or took off altogether), welcome back!  I am pumped for the upcoming year... 2011 is going to be amazing, I can just feel it!!!  But I'll talk more about new opportunities - aka resolutions - in tomorrow's post.  Today, my main goal was to get my brain defuzzed and crank out quality work at the Day Job.  I have a lot going on and knew I had to shake the laziness, and quickly too.

I find it very difficult to get back in the swing of things after a week or 2 off my typical routine.  Anyone else like that?  What can I say, I'm a creature of habit :)  Don't be fooled by the apparent effort behind today's outfit... I created this look during a lazy afternoon last week where I sat in my closet and created outfits around photos that inspired me and/or items I haven't worn lately.  This will make getting dressed easy this week :)  I'm glad I had an outfit ready that made me feel pulled together, even though I was mostly sleepy.  Change your outfit - change your state of mind!

Graphic T-Shirt & Layers

t-shirt: Threadless ($10) ~ button down: H&M ($15) ~ sweater: Banana Republic (gift) ~ belt: Target ($17) ~ jeans: Target ($14) ~ boots: Bandolino via Macy's ($85ish)

Date: December 3, 2010
Message ensemble: Very simple - it was Friday and I wanted a laid-back look!  And, I wanted it to revolve around my new graphic t-shirt from Threadless (yay Black Friday sale :)  I don't often wear graphic t-shirts to the office, but I know that the Day Job will tolerate them on Fridays.

I had also recently read this post by Tamia of Style Sample and was inspired!  What do you guys think - did I pull off the many layers well?  I can see myself layering similarly over the upcoming 4 day weekend :)

Granny Chic

shirt: Limited (gift) ~ sweater: Target ($16ish) ~ skirt: thrifted via Goodwill ($8) ~ boots: Ann Klein via Macy's ($115) ~ brooch, bangle, mittens: gifts ~ earrings: Jess LC ($16 holiday sale!)

Date: December 15, 2010
Ensemble message: The goal for today was to be comfortable sitting in hours upon hours of meetings, but to also look pulled together enough to make an appearance at a NY Style Blogger soiree right after work.  I didn't really have time to put together a second outfit to change into at the office, so I needed something that would carry me through the day.

I just thrifted this long wool skirt the other night on a spontaneous trip to Goodwill.  I like that it's long, because it is FREEZING in the NYC area this week.  I also like that the plaid, colors, and overall style feels very wintery and holiday-like.  I'm already planning on wearing this skirt on Christmas Day!  I kinda felt like a grandma in the outfit, and Sammy from Sammy Davis Vintage rightfully called my look Granny Chic.  And I'm totally ok with that :)  My new earrings from Jess LC were also a great touch - perfectly dainty to wear every day!

Speaking of, last night was my first ever blogger meet up.  SO. MUCH. FUN!  I loved meeting everyone, especially Sammy and Lindsay & Meredith of Cubicle Chic, who I all speak to via the interwebs pretty much on a daily basis.  As soon as I get copies of the pictures, I will post them :)

Wool Sweater & Summer Dress

sweater: JCrew (gift) ~ skirt: actually a dress, thrifted from Beacon's Closet ($14) ~ boots: Bandolino via Macy's ($85ish) ~ necklace: F21 ($5)

Date: December 2, 2010
Ensemble message: You guys.  It was a long, long day.  I watched 36 co-ops present their final projects, and also provided feedback to each.  Don't get me wrong, I love love love interacting with the co-ops, but I wish we could break this day into 2!  So, please forgive me for making this short and kinda babbling.

By the way, not sure what a co-op is?  It's an intern, but for 6 months.  These students take a full semester off to come work for the Day Job and get experience.  Yeah, we pay them too, which is a nice perk ;)  It was really nice to see each of them dressed exactly as I would expect: either in a suit or very nice professional clothes.  Clearly the business etiquette course they took at the start of the co-op really left an impression (thanks Jonna! :)

Do any of you have interns or co-ops at your job?  If you do, I really encourage you to interact with them... even if you have little experience, you could still be a great mentor to them!
