Ensemble message: Yesterday I posted the outfit that I wore to dinner the evening before an extended team meeting.  This is what I wore to the actual meeting, where I had 45 minutes to present an HR update.  Normally I don't stress out about a quick update, but this was the first time I was meeting this team!  I knew that most people would be casual during this meeting, but I didn't want to be in jeans while presenting to this group for the first time ever.  I feel that this outfit was a good balance, and my presentation went really well!

Oh and for Profession Gal, who has never been to Philadelphia, here is a couple photos from my hotel window (sadly I wasn't about to get out and about while I was there!)

Not the best view of the Philly skyline - but it's a shorter city than NYC!

Famous indoor market, which I didn't have time to visit :(

Ensemble message: I wore this gold skirt yesterday, and though I bought it about a month ago, this is it's blog debut.  After a couple days of rain (and more in the forecast), I wanted to wear something festive but still comfortable to counteract the grey day.  Also, I had dinner plans after work with a friend from grad school, and this gold skirt was perfect for a girls' night out!

We Love Colors: Navy Tights

cardigan, t-shirt, & belt: Target ($15, $7, & $17 respectively) ~ skirt: Gap (gift) ~ tights: Nylon/Lycra Microfiber c/o We Love Colors ~ shoes: Marc Fischer via Macy's ($36) ~ earrings: Jess LC ($15 Black Friday sale)

Date: January 24, 2011
Ensemble message: Today marks the first day of We Love Colors week here on Employed Panache!  The lovely folks over at WLC sent me a few pairs of tights to review, so I am going to mix them into my outfits this week.  I have to say... I'm pretty darn cheap thrifty when it comes to buying tights.  I tend to put runs in them easily, so I go with whatever costs the least.  And my mom tends to buy me tights whenever she sees them on sale but never asks me to pay her back... yes, I'm totally an adult.  (Hence why I never highlight them in my outfit details ;)  But these tights from We Love Colors - they are a whole new level of thick!  I can tell that they'll last me awhile, which is great.  And thick equals warm, which was key this morning as I commuted to work in 2 degree weather.

So I must confess you guys... I feel like I cheated today as I got dressed.  I pretty much wore this same exact outfit on Saturday (new tights included - I couldn't wait!), but with a graphic tee and boots.  I was happy to remix this wool skirt into a weekend outfit - it's a great way to extend your wardrobe!  But when I woke up today feeling pretty lazy (like most Monday mornings) and saw the skirt and cardi hanging out on my dresser, I could not resist transitioning it all into something more work appropriate.

Also, We Love Colors will be giving a pair of microfiber tights to one lucky reader in the color of their choice - look for the giveaway details tomorrow!

Granny Chic

shirt: Limited (gift) ~ sweater: Target ($16ish) ~ skirt: thrifted via Goodwill ($8) ~ boots: Ann Klein via Macy's ($115) ~ brooch, bangle, mittens: gifts ~ earrings: Jess LC ($16 holiday sale!)

Date: December 15, 2010
Ensemble message: The goal for today was to be comfortable sitting in hours upon hours of meetings, but to also look pulled together enough to make an appearance at a NY Style Blogger soiree right after work.  I didn't really have time to put together a second outfit to change into at the office, so I needed something that would carry me through the day.

I just thrifted this long wool skirt the other night on a spontaneous trip to Goodwill.  I like that it's long, because it is FREEZING in the NYC area this week.  I also like that the plaid, colors, and overall style feels very wintery and holiday-like.  I'm already planning on wearing this skirt on Christmas Day!  I kinda felt like a grandma in the outfit, and Sammy from Sammy Davis Vintage rightfully called my look Granny Chic.  And I'm totally ok with that :)  My new earrings from Jess LC were also a great touch - perfectly dainty to wear every day!

Speaking of, last night was my first ever blogger meet up.  SO. MUCH. FUN!  I loved meeting everyone, especially Sammy and Lindsay & Meredith of Cubicle Chic, who I all speak to via the interwebs pretty much on a daily basis.  As soon as I get copies of the pictures, I will post them :)
