Pinspired: Faux Collar
Ensemble message: While I love getting inspiration from my fellow style bloggers, Pinterest has jumped the ranks and is now one of my go-to places for style ideas. And DIY ideas... and home decor, recipes, etc etc etc. When I saw this pin, I was instantly drawn to the fur collar and silk scarf. I personally would not have pair them together - in my head this is too much. But they actually balance out well, and this has been one of my favorite outfits from the past month!
My collar is a fake one - both the fur and the fact that it didn't come with this blazer. I carefully pinned the edges to hold it in place. What do you think - would you wear a fur collar and scarf together??

Faux Fur
![]() |
cardigan: Banana Republic (gift) ~ cami: Target ($9) ~ pants: Calvin Klein via Filene's Basement ($24) ~ scarf: Express (gift) ~ shoes: Mia via DSW ($60) ~ watch: Fossil (gift) |
Ensemble message: Pretty simple message here... it was post-Christmas and I wanted to wear a couple new items I had received as gifts. I was also going to be moving offices that day, so a skirt or dress wouldn't be the most practical. And done.

Orange & Purple
![]() |
shirt: Anthropologie ($35) ~ sweater: Target ($16ish) ~ pants: Calvin Klein via Filene's Basement ($24) ~ shoes: Mia via DSW ($60) ~ necklace: Macy's ($11) ~ cuff: gift |
Ensemble message: Today I bring you a mid-week casual outfit that would probably have been best for a Friday (oops). November and December have been nuts for me at the Day Job, so comfort and easy-to-style outfits were key for me every day. Between my hectic schedule and the weather cooling down, I'm really loving the more utilitarian looks that incorporate finer pieces (silk shirts, statement necklaces, heels). Is your closet following any one theme this season?

Camping Chic
Ensemble message: You guys, I cannot tell a lie... last Thursday, all I could think about was the long weekend that laid ahead of me. And, I think it showed in my outfit choice that day ;) The Husband and I, along with some family and friends, headed down to Assateague Island for a few days of camping. I look forward to this trip every year because camping almost forces you to kick back and do nothing... and that's just what I need after this crazy summer!
Also, I know my readers don't typically get a detailed look into my life after hours, but I'm guest posting today over at Sparrow & Urchin, where you can read more about my camping adventure :)
What did you do over the weekend??

Mixed Prints
![]() |
cami: Marshall's ($16) ~ jacket: F21 ($12) ~ pants: DKNY Jeans via Filene's Basement ($24) ~ sandals: Nine West Outlet ($25ish) ~ necklace/cuff: gifts ~ bracelet: thrifted ($8) |
Ensemble message: This outfit was styled especially for this week's Everybody Everywear challenge - mixed prints! Mixing prints is not a stretch for me, I've done it before (see below). But it was a challenge to find a new mix since my wardrobe is a bit limited at the moment. Though it's subtle, the stripes on the jacket do count as a print! I personally think that stripes and floral are the easiest prints to mix (for those of you who might be a bit shy when it comes to mixing prints).

Blurry Morning
![]() |
sweater: F21 ($) ~ shirt: Gap ($30) ~ pants: DKNY via Filene's Basement ($24) ~ shoes: Target ($20) ~ bracelets: gift & DIY |
Ensemble message: Just another manic Monday! More rain to start off my week, which for me meant wearing pants. I truly hope this is the last of the yellow-ish, blurry, icky indoor pics for a long, long time. But back to my outfit... I am so happy that I bought this sweater from Forever 21 as it's proved to be very versatile! It layers well and is a great neutral on its own. And given the up and down weather this past month, this sweater has really come in handy.

Layered Up
Ensemble message: I wore this outfit during the week-long span of cool temperatures and tons of rain. I had virtually no meetings at work and then a concert in NYC that night, so I went the comfy route and wore leggings. I honestly can't remember the last time I wore leggings to work, which is funny because during Winter 2010, that's pretty much all I wore (good thing I wasn't blogging then, haha!) But then I saw this post by Elaine of Clothed Much and remembered that leggings can be sleek and stylish. Next time I'll go for all out copy-cat with a blazer, but I loved the more casual take with multiple layers.

DIY Necklace
![]() |
jacket: Kensie via Macy's ($35) ~ t-shirt & shoes: Target ($8ish & $20) ~ pants: Calvin Klein via Filene's Basement ($24) ~ necklace: DIY ~ watch: NY&Co ($20ish) ~ cuff: gift |
Ensemble message: Hmmmm... if I'm not sure what date I took these pics, then surely I don't remember why I wore what I did ;) Looking back at my calendar from last week, I had no major meetings scheduled. So this was probably a quick, spring-like outfit fit for an office workhorse. Oh, also I'm sure I planned the outfit around my necklace, which I made myself last week! This was the same necklace that an Anthropologie cashier complimented me on, along with a vintage purse I won from Amanda :)

Slumpy
![]() |
shirt: Anthropologie (gift) ~ turtleneck: H&M ($8ish) ~ pants: Calvin Klein via Filene's Basement ($24) ~ shoes: Steve Madden via Famous Footwear ($14) ~ necklace: DIY |
Ensemble message: Happy Monday! How was everyone's day? I spent today recruiting interns, which included a commute to/from New York City. Needless to say, I did not have time to take outfit photos this morning. Luckily, since I did not have time to blog since Thursday night, I bring you last week's casual Friday outfit! I do apologize that it's a little slumpy and definitely wrinkly... but it was a long week and I was happy to be able to put together a photo-worthy outfit at all ;)

Split Personality Dress
![]() |
sweater: Babette Ballinger via Filene's Basement ($24) ~ dress: Nick & Mo via Daffy's ($14) ~ boots: Rocket via Famous Footwear ($40) ~ necklace: gift |
Ensemble message: I don't know why I don't wear this dress more often... it's so cute! I think it's maybe because I'm never really sure when to wear it. The polka dots have a print in them that might be flowers, or maybe snowflakes. It has short sleeves but is jewel toned. Sort of a split personality, don't you think? I am happy that I wore my cowboy booties. My first instinct was to wear my heeled oxfords, but it was good to change things up.

Butterfly Wing
![]() |
Cardi, cami, shoes: Target ($15, $8, and $20) ~ pants: Calvin Klein via Filene's Basement ($24) ~ belt: Anthropologie (gift) ~ necklace: Shimmerwings (gift) |
Ensemble message: Another outfit focused on a birthday gift. This time, I organized what to wear around my amazing new necklace from The Husband. The pendant has an actual butterfly wing in it - how awesome is that?!? The wings are collected in the Peruvian Amazon after the butterfly's natural life cycle. They are called Shimmerwings and can be found in a number of different sites online.
