Ensemble message: No meetings today!! I love collaborating with other people, but today I needed to be a hermit at my desk and plug away at a number of tasks. So, this was a good opportunity to dress a little more casually and push the envelope with over the knee socks. I love these socks... they are thick and nubby and do not get shown off enough.
But the true star of this outfit is my cardigan, which feels more like a blanket to me! The front drapes nicely and it looks great loose or belted. I wear this cardigan a lot more than it shows here on the blog. Because it can go over just about anything, from a t-shirt to a button down to a dress like today, I find myself reaching for it more often than not. What do you have to stop yourself from wearing all the time?

Ensemble message: This morning I was unexpectedly greeted by bright and blinding sun! The problem was, I was totally expecting heavy rain… meaning I was not planning on taking photos this morning, so I didn’t lay out clothes last night!! I felt like a kid waking up to no snow when 5+ inches were predicted. Except that I’d rather be disappointed by the sun :)
Since I was in a rush, I started looking through my dresses. And since I knew I’d be number crunching in front of my computer all day, I grabbed this one since it’s an easy fit and cotton. I added a spin with the vest and originally had my blue mary janes, but it didn’t really fit together. The vest said “boho” and the shoes said “girly,” so I swapped the heels for my short cowboy boots. That was too costume-y for me, so I went with these boots, a good ol' stand by.

Ensemble message: Last Thursday, I decided to wear this grey dress, which is made out of a sweatshirt type material. The frock is from Fossil, and it was a specific Christmas request made to Mama Claus. I was psyched to open it on Christmas morning, but soon became frustrated that it didn't mix real well with my wardrobe.

Ensemble message: Today was one of few meetings, and they were all with people I've been working with for a long time. In other words, it was safe to experiment with knee socks! Let me tell you, I had many doubts leaving the house... but it finally got to the point where I was going to be late, so I just went for it. Lo and behold, I actually got a lot of compliments! So I'm glad I took the plunge.

What do you guys think about knee socks? I see them all over the fashion blogosphere and on Chictopia... I think they look great, but you have to be careful about how cutesy the outfit is. Unless that's your thing... super sweet and cute isn't really my style ;)
